Classroom Information

Welcome to Our 3rd Grade Class!

Families,

I am excited to have the opportunity to teach your 3rd grade student this year at Bradley Elementary!  I wanted to take the opportunity to share some of our classroom information.

School Hours:  School hours are 8:05-3:20. The doors will be open at 7:55, at which time students will be allowed in.  Third graders enter through the north door of the school in the morning, and exit through it in the afternoon.

Daily Planner/Agenda:  Your child will bring home a daily planner so that you can see what we have done for the day, as well as any homework students may have.  This is also a great way for students to practice planning and organizational skills!

Homework:  Students will have a green homework folder that they will bring home nightly.  Homework may include uncompleted assignments from the day, skills practice, studying math facts, and spelling. Students will also have a weekly reading log that requires them to read for at least 80 minutes per week.  The log will be due every Friday, or the last day of the week.

Friday Folders:  I will send home a Friday Folder at the end of each week.  In the folder, you will find completed student work and notes.  Parents must sign and date the Friday folder, and the students will return it on Monday.

Work Corrections: At times, you may notice Correct and Return (C&R) written at the top of student work.  This means that the student must make corrections to his/her work and turn it back in.  When this happens, the student will make some corrections with me in order to review the missed skill.  After reviewing the skill, the student may be asked to continue making corrections independently in order to demonstrate new comprehension of the lesson.

Newsletter:  I will publish a newsletter to be emailed to you weekly.  The newsletter will include upcoming projects, activities, reminders, what we are working on in each subject, spelling lists, and any special notes.  If you would prefer a printed copy, please let me know.

Snacks:  Students may bring a healthy snack with them daily.  They may also bring a water bottle to class as long as it has a lid.

Birthday treats/invitations:  You are welcome to send in treats for your child’s birthday.  Please just let me know when you plan to bring the treats ahead of time so that I can plan accordingly.  Students may only pass out birthday invitations at school if there is one for every student.

Specials Class Schedule:  10:50-11:35 Daily - We are on a rotational schedule.

 A Day = PE, B Day = Music, C Day = Art, D Day = Library

TEAMS Lab- Thursdays 8:20-9:15

Lunch:  11:45-12:15 - If you would like to eat lunch with your child, please call the office and let them know before 9:00 a.m. so it can be included on the lunch count.

Absences:  Please inform the office if your child is ill or will not be at school.

Discipline:  At Bradley our wish is for all students to conduct themselves in a caring way and to respect the rights of others.  We are a Leader in Me district and will strive to continue developing leadership qualities throughout the school year.  If students are having difficulty following classroom expectations, I will contact you so that we can work together to form an action plan.

If at any time you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  You can reach me by email at [email protected] or by phone at 913-651-6915.

I look forward to being your partner in education this year!
