About me:

I grew up in a small rural town just east of Kansas City, Missouri. I am the oldest of five children and learned responsibility at a young age! I think being a big sister led me on my career pathway to becoming a teacher. I attended Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and received my Bachelors of Science in Education. I began my teaching career in a Lutheran private school and taught there for 22 years. I have taught first, second, and third grade as well as junior high P.E. This will be my seventh year in the Fort Leavenworth school district. I have a  master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Emporia State University.

I am married to Scot, my microbiologist husband, and we have three children--Kiersten, Mikah, and Tenley. They are all grown and I am currently experiencing an empty nest! My daughter, Kiersten, is a physical therapist and my son, Mikah, is applying to grad school to become a physical therapist as well. My youngest, Tenley, is in her third year at Kansas State University pursuing an architecture degree. We have a calico cat named Lulu who keep us entertained and a West Highland White Terrier named Archie. I enjoy hiking, traveling, baking, watching college basketball and Sporting KC soccer, and putting puzzles together (thanks to COVID). My favorite hobby though, is collecting ideas and interactive lessons to use in my classroom. Anything school related sparks my interest.

I look forward to getting to know my students and their interests! The best part of teaching is building relationships with my students and their families.
